Half of all failed turbos die from how they were fitted, not how they were built.

Oil starvation in the first 30 seconds kills more reconditioned turbos than any other cause. Old contaminated oil from the failed turbo carries metal fragments straight into the new bearings. We change oil and filter, flush the feed line, prime the bearings, and run a controlled first-start every time.

How a turbo fitting works at Gap

Allow half a day. We provide a courtesy car for collect-and-return on Birmingham postcodes.

Drop off

Bring the vehicle to B30 2NH. We confirm symptoms and book in.

Remove & inspect

Old turbo off, intake checked for ingested metal, oil feed line flushed.

Fit & prime

New gaskets, banjo, oil change. Bearings primed with oil before reconnecting feed.

First-start & road-test

Controlled 5-minute idle, then road-test for boost behaviour. Hand back.

Turbo fitting: common questions

Do I need to bring the vehicle, or can you arrange collection?
Both work. We offer free collect-and-return on Birmingham postcodes (B1-B98). Outside Birmingham, our partner courier handles it (charged at cost).
How long does fitting take?
Half a working day for most diesel cars. Vans and 4x4s where the turbo is buried can be a full day. We confirm an exact time when you book.
Does the fitted warranty cover towing?
Yes. If a Gap-fitted turbo fails within warranty, we cover recovery to our workshop plus replacement plus refit, no excess.
Will fitting damage my engine warranty?
No. We use OEM-spec gaskets and follow the manufacturer fitting sequence. Engine warranty (if you have one) remains intact.
Can I buy a turbo from elsewhere and have you fit it?
Yes, but only if the turbo arrives boxed and untampered. We test it before fitting. Warranty on the part itself sits with the supplier, not us; our fitted labour warranty is 12 months.
