Mobile DPF Cleaning: How It Works and When It Is the Right Choice

What is mobile DPF cleaning?

Mobile DPF cleaning is an on-vehicle service where a technician comes to your site, injects a cleaning solution into the DPF via the upstream pressure sensor port, then runs the engine through a managed thermal cycle to flush soot and dry the filter. No DPF removal required.

How the process runs

  • Diagnostic scan to read soot/ash load and confirm no underlying mechanical fault.
  • Connect injection equipment to the DPF pressure sensor port.
  • Inject heated cleaning solution through the DPF.
  • Run engine at controlled RPM / load for managed dry cycle.
  • Final regen run to verify and reset the ECU soot counter.

When mobile cleaning is the right call

  • Fleet sites with multiple vehicles per visit (best per-vehicle value)
  • DPF mounted in awkward position (long removal time)
  • Driver cannot bring vehicle to workshop (taxi, courier, mobility)
  • Soot load between 50-75% with no ash overload
  • Vehicle still starts and runs

When workshop cleaning beats mobile

  • Filter has 80,000+ miles with no service history (ash overload likely)
  • Substrate damage suspected
  • Filter cannot pass any exhaust gas (fully blocked)
  • Oil contamination (mobile cleaning will not remove oil residue)

What it costs

Mobile DPF cleaning runs £180-£280 per vehicle in the UK. Fleet visits with 5+ vehicles drop to £140-£180 per vehicle. We cover Birmingham, the Midlands, and on request UK-wide for fleet jobs. See our mobile service.

What to have ready before the visit

  • Vehicle reg, make, model, year, engine code
  • Diagnostic codes if you have them
  • Service history (especially last DPF service)
  • Safe place to park with engine running for 30-60 minutes
  • Battery in good condition (engine runs at varying RPM throughout)
